New civil service eligibles total 14,063
A total of 14,063 or 11.45 percent out of 122,824 examinees passed the Career Service Examinations administered nationwide by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) last May 27. Of the said figure, 11,984 passed the Professional level while 2,079 passed the Sub-Professional level.
Joanne G. Rebultan from the National Capital Region (NCR) topped the Professional level with a rating of 88.43, as Farshana A. Datukon from Davao region led the Sub-Professional level with 92.59 rating.
Rebultan, together with the rest of the Professional level passers, shall be conferred the Career Service Professional Eligibility which is appropriate for appointment to both first level and second level government positions not covered by Bar, board and special laws.
On the other hand, the Sub-Professional level passers led by Datukon shall obtain the Career Service Sub-Professional Eligibility appropriate for first level government positions that include clerical, trades, crafts, and custodial service positions.
Completing the list of Top 10 examinees for the Professional level are Agapito S. Yang Jr. (Central Visayas), 88.31; Susan Anne A. Quirante (NCR), 88.13; Karlo Emmanuel SJ. Barde (Bicol), 88.00; Aaron Marc M. Dimaano (Bicol), 87.99; Mark Anthony D. Angue (Eastern Visayas), 87.66; Mark Lennin C. Degamo (Central Visayas), 87.61; Romeo V. Arahan Jr. (NCR), 87.57; Raymond P. Manuel (NCR), 87.55; and Samuel Patrick R. Pasamonte (NCR), 87.53.
For the Sub-professional level, Johny Carl B. Gevera (NCR), 92.14; Jessie T. Mamites (Zamboanga Peninsula), 91.51; Carlos Jesus M. Liao (Bicol), 91.50; Frances Anna V. Bacosa (Southern Tagalog), 91.27; Benjamin Franklin A. Bona (Southern Tagalog), 91.05; Giancarlo P. Ventura (Cagayan Valley), 90.87; Ian David T. Garcia (Zamboanga Peninsula), 90.63; John Denver M. Bonsol (Southern Tagalog), 90.58; and Romel A. Parmis (NCR), 90.44.
Top regions
As to regional performance on both levels of examination, the CSC Examination, Recruitment and Placement Office (ERPO) reported that the NCR posted the highest passing rate at 17.97 percent, representing a total of 3,237 passers out of 18,015 total examinees. The Cordillera Administrative Region came in second with a passing rate of 14.59 percent. Other top performing regions of the country include Region III (Central Luzon) at 12.73 percent, Region II (Cagayan Valley) at 12.31 percent, and Region XI (Davao Peninsula) at 12.03 percent.
Interest in public career
Entrance to government was cited by almost three-fourths of the passers as their main reason for taking the career service examination. They prefer work in the areas of human resource, social science and welfare service, general administrative service, financial service, mathematics, physical and biological science service, and tourism and industry service.
In terms of employment, there were 3,215 passers who came from the private sector and 2,275 from the government. Those self-employed and those working in non-government organizations numbered 489 and 109, respectively. Majority of passers, numbering 7,845, were unemployed.
Bulk of the passers, counting 9,911, fall under the age bracket of 18-24 years old. Also, 8,352 were female, 5,690 were male, and 21 had invalid data on their sex.
Successful examinees are advised to coordinate with the CSC Regional Office concerned on the requirements and procedure in claiming their Certificate of Eligibility.
The complete list of successful examinees of the May 27, 2012 Career Service Examinations may be accessed from the CSC website at www.csc.gov.ph. Those who failed may secure a copy of their Report of Rating also through the CSC website.
Meanwhile, the CSC reminds the public that the second and last schedule for the year of the Career Service Professional and Sub-Professional written examinations will be on October 21. Applications may be filed at any CSC Regional or Field Office until September 6. Details on qualifications, documentary requirements and filing procedure are available at www.csc.gov.ph.
